Provincial Airlines Announces Winter Schedule Enhanced Service and Network Expansion
St. John's, Newfoundland

Provincial Airlines (“PAL”) today announced its winter 2003 schedule. Greg Mercer, Vice President, stated, “Our biggest challenge in developing this schedule has been ensuring that service levels to all regions of the province are maintained after the abandonment of service by Air Canada. As always, the emphasis in our schedule is on providing a reliable air service with the availability and frequency that travelers require to meet their daily needs. The winter schedule reflects months of careful consideration and community consultation. ”

Effective January 13th, there will be increased service frequency with a second daily flight for Wabush, as well as three daily flights serving Goose Bay and Deer Lake. Provincial Airlines’ route network is also being expanded to provide a daily service between Sept Iles, Quebec and Wabush providing a connection between Quebec and points throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Connections between Western Newfoundland and Halifax are maintained. The winter schedule reflects seasonal activity levels and emphasizes increased intraprovincial service replacing lost capacity.

Provincial Airlines is Newfoundland and Labrador’s only regional airline operating under Part 705 (Airline Operations) regulations and offering airline services with flight attendants and full in-flight service. Spokesperson Bob Halliday stated, “Provincial Airlines has worked hard to be positioned as today’s successor to Jazz. Service enhancements included certification in 2001 to Part 705 (Airline Operations) standards, the introduction of 33-seat Saab 340 services, and expansion of the network to include connections to Nova Scotia and Quebec. Significant planning is already underway for a 2003 spring/summer schedule that will include further service enhancements to meet the expected increased market demands especially in Labrador with its economic growth.”

With over 30 years in the aviation industry, Provincial Airlines and its partner Innu Mikun Airlines provide scheduled passenger and air cargo services to 14 destinations in Atlantic Canada. Schedule and flight information is available in our website at www.provair.com.
